ALOR SETAR: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak has announced a minor reshuffle to the state executive council portfolios following the appointment of Kulim assemblyman Lim Soo Nee as a state executive councillor.

Azizan said that Lim would hold the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Siam Community Affairs, Cooperative and Estate Workers Unity portfolios that was previously held by Bukit Selambau assemblyman S. Manikumar.

Manikumar will hold the Tourism, Community Development and Human Resources portfolios that was previously held by Mohd Radzhi Salleh besides his present portfolio of Indian Community Affairs.

Lunas assemblyman Mohd Radzhi was stripped of his state executive council post after he quit PKR last month and declared himself an independent assemblyman.

“Manikumar has experience in tourism affairs so that is why we gave him the portfolio,” he said after chairing the weekly state exco meeting yesterday.

Also involved in the reshuffle is Anak Bukit assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah who held the Industry, Investment, Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry, Biotechnology and Information portfolios and Tanjong Dawai assemblyman Dr Hamdan Mohamed Khalib who held the Youth, Sports, Art, Heritage and Culture portfolios.

He added that the rest of the exco members retained their portfolios.

Azizan said Lim’s appointment to the state exco means that PKR will now have three representatives while PAS has seven representatives.

The sole DAP assemblyman in Kedah, who is Kota Darul Aman assemblyman Lee Guan Aik was however not considered for a state exco post.
