SHAH ALAM: The decision on the status of Port Klang assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah who is said to be planning to leave PKR will be made after Sept 23.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim declined to confirm whether disciplinary action would be taken against Badrul or if he will be asked to resign from his post as assemblyman.
“I do not want to comment on whether it will be disciplinary action or resignation from his elected post,” he said.
Khalid added that the state was concerned and would look into Badrul’s absence in serving his constituents and attending public events.
“Sometimes people might have some reason for not going to work for one month or some might be on maternity leave but in Badrul’s case he is not on maternity leave,” he said.
“Last week, I called Badrul to join the Sultan of Selangor (Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah) and me for prayers at a mosque in Port Klang but he did not respond. We gave him the benefit of the doubt that it could be because he was too ill,” said Khalid.
He said as a state assemblyman and state executive councillor, Badrul was still receiving his allowances and wages.
The decision on Badrul’s status would be made after a discussion with Badrul and the state speaker Teng Chang Khim.
“Once we have ironed out the situation we will make it known to the public,” he said.
Over the past week, speculation was rife that Badrul was going to leave PKR. He had been disqualified from making decisions pertaining to his annual allocation of RM500,000.
Khalid’s political secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who is also the Seri Setia assemblyman, now decides on the funds for public events and minor repairs for Port Klang constituents.
Over the past three months, Nik Nazmi has been servicing the Port Klang constituents to avoid allegations of misuse of funds as Badrul was unable to do so after being involved in a road accident.
