IN the spirit of 1Malaysia, Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad played host to 120 multi-racial orphans at a buka puasa feast at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

These children were brought together from three orphanages namely Kompleks Darul Kifayah, Rumah Charis and Rumah Kebajikan Anbu lllam.

The event was also graced by Senator Datuk Seri Sharizat Abdul Jalil, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister.

Celcom chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said: “We are delighted to play host to the children and their guardians during this month of Ramadan whereby it is especially important to undertake worthy deeds to genuinely care for the unfortunate and underprivileged members in our society.”

Happy crowd: Shahrizat and Shazalli with the children from the homes.

The children were from various backgrounds, races and religion, making the event true to the concept of 1Malaysia where sharing traditions are seen as the norm in the country.

Celcom’s main objective was to expose the children from various beliefs to join their Muslim friends for buka puasa.

The children and guests enjoyed a buffet spread and were treated to a special ghazal performance from the Tayung group.

The highlight of the evening was the distribution of duit raya packets to all the children from the homes.
