RESIDENTS of Taman Seputeh are annoyed with the attitude of several members of the community who have turned public land into their personal little garden hence denying others a chance to use it.
Some had even laid claim on the road shoulder that make up the public area.
Numerous examples could be spotted at road shoulders fronting several premises, where one foot concrete kerbs had been erected by several households in the neighbourhood.
A resident, who spoke to Star Metro on condition of anonymity, said some houses had even covered up monsoon drains and even relocated their house entrances to side roads.
“The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) should come up with clear guidelines as what can and cannot be done,’’ said the disgruntled resident.
“Space that make up a road shoulder should be public land and not be taken up by selfish individuals for their private use,’’ he said, adding that the situation created a traffic hazard.
Another example pointed out by residents was a barrier wall located at the junction of Jalan Sungai Dua/Jalan Tmn Seputeh.
The wall was ironically erected by DBKL.
However, the spot had been turned into a private garden by one of the households.
“This forces people to walk on the main road putting their life at risk,’’ he said.
Another resident, who only wished to be identified as Rama, said the public comprising the elderly, schoolchildren and joggers had no choice but to dice with danger and walk on the main road.
The residents want DBKL to come up with clear guidelines so no one could claim every land and road kerb in front of their houses for their own personal use.
