MUAR: It is a time for reflection and the season for giving and sharing, so the Johor Government presented aid to at least 400 needy people.

They included orphans, Muslim converts and students in the Sungai Balang constituency, who received Hari Raya aid in the form of food and cash.

“We always care for the needy, especially the poor, old folk, single mothers, orphans, the handicapped, poor students and needy Muslim converts,” Johor Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Dr Robia Kosai said when presenting the aid on Friday.

The state, she said, was always concerned about them and had allocated millions of ringgit annually to ease their plight.

“Although the Government has special allocations for such people, we want the private sector and rich individuals to also play their part during Ramadan,” she said.

Dr Robia, who is also Sungai Balang assemblywoman, said the recipients, who included 201 orphans and 41 Muslim converts, were selected by village heads.
