PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s first Syariah-compliant airline, Rayani Air, will make its maiden flight on Sunday from KLIA2 to Langkawi.
The airline was handed the Air Service Licence (ASL) and Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) here on Friday.
The Langkawi International Airport will be its home base.
For starters, the airline will serve five destinations - KLIA2, Langkawi, Kota Baru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
As a "syariah-compliant" airline, its Muslim crew are required to wear hijab. Food and beverages will be halal-certified, and no alcohol will be served on board.
There will also be doa (prayer) recitals before every flight.
