Beef noodles soup that is worth every slurp

What say you on the issue below?

HELLO folks! And welcome to this week’s edition of the Food Trail.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate Emily Khoo for her submission which won her this month’s prize for the StarMetro — Knife Cooking Oil ‘Food Tales’ promotion.

And also, thanks to all you readers who have also sent in your entries for October. If your entry was not picked, don’t be disheartened, just keep them coming!

Khoo’s Mala Beef Noodles from Rock Cafe Food Court in Kota Damansara is the flavour of the week and here’s her story:

My family and I were at Kota Damansara one day and happened to come across the Rock Café Food Court. Since it was time for lunch, we decided to check out the food court as it was our first time there.

Food matters: Khoo with her prize.

After checking out all the stalls, we decided to eat at one particular stall called Taiwan Mee which offered a variety of noodles — both dry and wet.

I ordered a Mala Beef Noodle Soup as this was something quite new to me, whereas the rest of the family members ordered Fish Cube Noodle Soup, Chicken Cutlet Noodle Soup and The House Speciality Minced Meat Noodle.

The stall’s owner, Kim, was the only one manning the stall but she managed to prepare the noodles in the shortest time possible.

When the food was served it not only looked good but it tasted good as well.

The Mala Beef Noodle Soup has got a sweet and sour and a little bit spicy taste to it and this was what made the noodle taste special.

The house speciality, which is the original Taiwan noodles, is garnished with a variety of fresh and raw carrots, cucumber and bean sprouts which blended well with the minced meat. As for the chicken cutlet, it is fried only upon customer’s order which explains the crispiness of the meat.

There are about 10 types of noodle dishes offered by Kim and customers also have a choice of either Taiwan noodles, kuey teow, lai fun or mee hoon.

Overall, it was a nice makan experience. The Food Court is also clean with a pleasant atmosphere. They also have a giant screen to entertain the customers while they eat. Thumbs up for Kim of Taiwan Mee and Rock Café Kota Damansara.
