Woman leaves baby on steps

KUANTAN: A college student had a shock when a woman abandoned her two-day-old baby boy on the front steps of her cousin's home on Sunday.

"Ina", 18, was alone in her cousin's Kampung Sungai Karang Darat home when the woman, in her 20s, turned up about 3.30pm. "The woman was walking aimlessly in front of the house, then left the baby on the front steps. When she saw me, she asked me to take care of the baby and then she ran off." The baby was wrapped in a piece of cloth, said Ina. Her cousin took the baby to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital after they broke fast. Police said the woman left no information about the baby. He was just two days old, and weighed 2.8kg.
