KUCHING: A medical team from the Kuching Specialist Hospital will go to Ulu Baram next month to provide healthcare and dental services to remote communities there.
Its general manager Yasser Arafat Ishak said the team would serve about 20 villages in the Pelutan area, a one-hour flight or seven-hour drive from Miri.
“They will provide basic healthcare screening that in-cludes checks on blood pressure, vision tests as well as dental care,” he said.
Yasser said the Oct 5 to 8 trip, jointly organised by Samling Strategic Corporation Sdn Bhd, would be the hospital’s first to Ulu Baram and was part of its community outreach programme.
“We currently provide free outpatient services at our Klinik Wakaf in Satok here.
“Now we want to extend our outreach programme to remote areas in Sarawak and do our part for the local communities there,” Yasser said yesterday.
“We welcome medical and non-medical volunteers from the public to join us,” he added.
