MUAR: Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Jaffar Abdul, who died in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, was laid to rest at the Parit Bakar Muslim cemetery here.
Jaffar, 77, who had intestinal bleeding, was warded at the Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre for three days before he succumbed at about 5.10pm.
Many relatives, friends and former colleagues, including Selangor Police Chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar, came to pay their respects yesterday.
DCP Khalid said he served the former Deputy IGP as his aide from 1983 to 1986 and regarded Jaffar as a very kind and committed police officer.
“His death is a great loss not only to me and the force, but also the nation,” he said when met at Jaffar’s family home in Parit Bakar yesterday.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nasir Ramli said Jaffar was active in several non-governmental organisations and welfare bodies.
