Disney drama

What say you on the issue below?

In ‘85, my parents took my brother and I for a much anticipated trip to the United States.

Being kids, the highlight was naturally the trip to Disneyland in Anaheim.

When we arrived there, we saw that the queues to all the rides were unusually long. This was because it was the summer holidays. The weather was also dry and hot.

After enjoying a few “gentler” rides, my family was game for some exciting thrills. We joined the queue for the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster ride. After an agonising one hour wait, we finally had our turn.

As luck would have it, my mum and myself were seated right in front of the train, with my brother, dad and others taking their seats behind us. I was glad we got the best seat . . . or so I thought.

The train then started moving and accelerating when all of a sudden, my nose began to bleed. My mom started panicking and immediately tried to hold on to me. As she was doing that, she somehow knocked her sunglasses overboard.

She started screaming for the ride to stop. It probably didn’t help as well that I was clinging on to the railings of the train instead of covering my nose to try to stop the bleeding.

After an exhilarating ride (for me at least), the ride came to an end. I looked around and my mom was teary-eyed and had traces of blood on her face and clothes. The passengers behind us also had traces of blood on them. As for me, I was quite a sight as I was wearing a white T-shirt.

The Disneyland staff rushed over to check that I was alright. The nose bleed was probably due to the combined effects of dehydration and prolonged exposure to heat.

We then proceeded to enjoy our day in Disneyland . . . but only on the easier rides after that.
