KUALA LUMPUR: Local celebrities have joined in the fray to drive home the road safety message to their fans.

They are advocating the message that road safety depends a lot on the drivers' attitude at the wheel.

Their involvement is in conjunction with the Malaysians Unite for Road Safety campaign, organised by PLUS Expressways Berhad (Plus).

Leading the pack is Malaysia's Number One diva Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin. Among the other celebrities are actress/host Nur Fazura, actresses Chelsia Ng and Chermaine Poo, singers Melissa Indot, Camelia and Dayang Nurfaizah, and female rapper Arabyrd.

Suria FM chief operating officer Engku Emran, film director Mamat Khalid, singer Alif Satar, rapper Altimet and HotFM radio announcer/host Faizal Ismail and actor Mahesh Kishor also joined in.

As part of the campaign, the celebrities will also make a pledge to contribute towards road safety by Sept 9.

The campaign is targeting 250,000 Malaysians to pledge to improve their attitude while on the road. The public is also encouraged to participate by visiting www.090909.org.my and register their pledge.
