Budding musicians are invited to give their spin on the song Through My Window.

WHEN Through My Window started doing its rounds on Malaysian airwaves last week, it caused much curiosity and interest among the public as well as the entertainment industry.
At that point no one knew much about the song and its singers. It was only revealed yesterday that the band behind it is Bunkface.
The song got into everyone’s head, and recording artistes Tomok, Shila and Modread found it just as hard to resist.
All three hit upon the idea of making their version of the song and creating a music video for it.
“It was great to hear that the artistes were planning to collaborate,” said Ahmad Izham Omar of Monkey Bone, the recording label of Modread, Tomok and Shila.
“It will be interesting to see how the song will turn out with such diverse talents and styles working on it.”
The singers refused to say anything more, other than “it is very interesting to see how each of us could individually create different versions with just one song.” Apparently their version of Through My Window is already out, with videos on everyoneconnects.net and banner concerts on major websites such as The Star Online, MSN, amongst others.
The banner concerts are the first of its kind in Malaysia, where the online banners are converted into a concert stage. Commenting on the banner concerts, Izham said: “It’s a refreshing and interesting concept for promoting budding musicians.”

The banners lead to a contest which is open to budding singers and musicians. The performers with the best rendition of Through My Window at an audition wins the chance to be featured in the online banner concerts and also to perform live at the Everyone Connects event in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 21.
Through My Window has been buzzing on radio, blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Friendster. Its website, everyoneconnects.net, now has more than just the song and lyrics. It is much clearer now that the song is part of a social movement to get people collaborating with each other, with many events lined up for the next few weeks. Apparently, TM is also one of the collaborators in the everyoneconnects.net initiative.
Modread – comprising Shafiq (guitarist), Sukri (bassist), Fahmi (vocalist) and Adzeem (drummer) – won the Hot FM Twisties Bingit with their winning song Revolusi, which was in the top 20 of the Hot FM 30 Charts.
Their second single Pendrama reached the 17th spot of the Hot FM 30 Charts. They are currently working on their debut album.
Tomok (full name Shah Indrawan Ismail), 25, is the Season 3 winner – and also the first male winner – of the One In A Million reality TV show.

He also walked away with a recording contract with Monkey Bone. Formerly of boy band New Boyz, Tomok’s first solo album is in the works.
Shila, at only 19, is the first runner-up of One In A Million Season 2 and already has three albums to her name – the latest, Bebaskan, was released last Aug 20.
In the Penang-Shanghai World Star Quest 2008, she won the Gold Quest Awards 2008 and also the Best Song Award for Memori Tercipta.
She was also nominated for Best Vocal Performance In An Album (Female) at the Anugerah Industri Muzik 2008. – everyoneconnects.net
